Gladys Josephine Brewster Pasco
February 28, 1909 - August 1, 2000

Gladys Josephine Brewster was born in Troy Hill, Pennsylvania on February 28, 1909, the eighth of nine children of Anne Amelia Huff and Alexander Mitchell Brewster. She married Russell Allen Pasco July 3, 1941, and was divorced in 1965. Their only son, Richard Clark Pasco was born on July 10, 1950.
My mother, Gladys Josephine Brewster Pasco, passed away peacefully in her sleep at about 8: 00 p. m. Pacific Daylight Time, Tuesday evening, August 1, 2000, at the Almaden Care and Rehabilitation Center, the San Jose, Calif. nursing home where she had been a resident since June 16.
Her death was expected after a long decline, and represents a natural and appropriate closure to a rich and full life. Mom gave too much during her 91 years to fully list here. She loved children. She retired from her first career as a medical technologist to raise me. Subsequently she helped raise my son Matthew and served 15 years as a professional nanny to the Caccamo family of Chicago suburbs before retiring to San Jose to live closer to Matthew and me.
She is survived by her only son (me) and by her grandson, my son Matthew. My father Russell and she divorced in 1965, and Dad now lives in San Diego with his second wife, Alleene.
Memorial services were held Wednesday evening, August 9, 2000, in the Chapel of the Maryknoll Residence, Los Altos, California.
Per my mother's wishes, her remains have been donated to the Stanford University School of Medicine, Division of Anatomy.
